True North Church

True North Church is a multicultural, urban community of faith that finds its foundation in Jesus and lives out the countercultural requirements that He makes of His adherents. We are a church for all people from all walks of life that have decided to make Johannesburg their home.

We are...

....a church that is Reflective, in that we desire to be reflective of the community around us but also our country;
....a church that is Relevant to the people and community around us with the message of the Gospel;
....a church that is Responsible in how we teach God’s Word but also in being salt and light to the people around us;
....a church who wants to see God’s purpose of Revival being realised in Midrand, because that is what Christ came to do; renew all things, to bring dead things back to life;
....a church that is Relational; we aim to be a community that worships and does life together.

Reflective

We desire to be Reflective of the community around us and also our country.

Relevant

We strive to be Relevant to the people and community around us with the message of the Gospel.

Responsible

We strive to be Responsible in how we teach God’s Word but also in being salt and light to the people around us.

Revival

We want to see God’s purpose of Revival being realised in Midrand, because that is what Christ came to do; renew all things, to bring dead things back to life.

Relational

We want to be a church that is Relational; we aim to be a community that worships and does life together.

God

We believe in one God existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit – coexistent, eternal, co-equal in all their attributes, being perfect in holiness, love, righteousness, goodness, wisdom, power, justice and mercy.
(Deut 6:4; Matt 28:19; 2 Cor 13:14; 1 Pet 1:2; 1 Pet 1:16; 1 John 4:8,16; Ps 145:7,17; Eph 3:10; Matt 19:26; Isa 30:18; Luke 6:36).

The Father

We believe in God the Father, from whom all things come, having life in Himself and giving life to all living things.
(John 5:26; 1 Cor 8:6).

Jesus Christ

We believe in the absolute and essential deity of Jesus Christ, God the Son, in His eternal existence with the Father in pre-incarnate glory, in His virgin birth, true humanity, sinless life, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, triumphant ascension, mediatorial ministry and personal return in power and glory.
(John 1:1,14,18; Rom 3:21-26; 8:34; 1 Cor 15:1-20; Acts 1:9-11; Heb 1:3).

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the absolute and essential deity and personality of the Holy Spirit, His illuminating, convicting, regenerating, sanctifying, empowering and comforting work and His abiding presence in the believer.
(2 Cor 3:17; John 3:5; 16:8; 16:13- 14; Acts 1:8; Rom 8:9).

The Bible

We believe the Bible (“the Scriptures”) to be the written Word of God; that its sixty-six books, as originally written, were inspired by the Spirit of God and are without error in all that they affirm; that it presents us particularly with the Lord Jesus Christ; and, that it is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.
(2 Tim 3:16-17; 2 Pet 1:20-21; John 20:31; Psalm 119:105).

The Universal Church

We believe that the universal church includes all who have been regenerated by God as they have responded in repentance and faith to the Lord Jesus Christ, and includes local autonomous fellowships of believers who are being brought to maturity as disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ so that they reflect the character of Christ, build one another up, observe the ordinances and serve others, so as to fulfil the mission He has given them. We believe that the local church is an interdependent body exercising its own divinely awarded gifts under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
(Acts 2:41-47; Eph 4:1-16).

Satan

We believe that Satan is an evil personality, the arch-enemy of God, the great deceiver of mankind, but also a defeated foe, whose destiny is eternal punishment.
(Gen. 3:1-7; 2 Cor 4:4; 1 Pet 5:8; Rev. 20:10).

Mankind

We believe that mankind was created in the image of God, but sinned by disobedience, becoming guilty before God and depraved in all areas of life, thereby incurring physical and spiritual death.
(Gen 1:26-27; Rom 3:10-23; 6:23).

Salvation

We believe that salvation is a free gift of God, given by His grace and available to those who repent from sin and are justified by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, being born again by the Holy Spirit, thereby receiving eternal life and becoming children of God who are being transformed to the image of the Lord Jesus Christ.
(Titus 2:11, Eph 2:8-9; John 1:12; 3:5-6, 16; Rom 8:29; 2 Pet 3:9).
